Getting Stronger for the Golf Season – One Workout at a Time
After years away from the gym, I’m back with a goal: build strength and stability for golf. Using machine-based workouts, I focus on legs, back, and core. It’s early, but in 2–4 weeks I hope to see progress. One workout at a time, stronger body, better swing.
After several years away from structured gym training, I’ve decided it’s time to get serious again — with a clear goal in mind: building strength and stability for the upcoming golf season.
At 45, my priorities have shifted. This isn’t about chasing numbers, lifting heavy for ego, or grinding through punishing workouts. It’s about moving better, staying healthy, and playing better golf — for this season and many more to come.
Why Strength Training for Golf?
Golf may not look physically demanding at first glance, but anyone who plays regularly knows the truth. A powerful, repeatable swing relies on:
- Strong legs to generate force from the ground
- A stable and resilient core to transfer that power
- A strong back to support rotation and posture over 18 holes
Without strength, small flaws turn into fatigue, inconsistency, and eventually injury. I want the opposite: control, endurance, and confidence.
Back to the Gym — Keeping It Simple
Since I hadn’t been to the gym consistently in years, I chose a machine-based training program. Machines allow me to:
- Focus on proper movement patterns
- Reduce injury risk
- Build a solid strength foundation before adding complexity
Each workout includes a proper warm-up, followed by focused work on legs, back, and core — the key areas for golf performance. Nothing fancy, nothing rushed. Just controlled, intentional reps.
Progress Over Perfection
Right now, the goal isn’t to lift heavy. It’s to:
- Train consistently 2–3 times per week
- Improve strength gradually
- Support mobility and recovery
Every session is a small investment. Some days feel strong, others feel slower — and that’s fine. Consistency beats intensity, especially at this stage.
Looking Ahead
As the golf season approaches, it’s still too early to see any tangible improvements, but when I’m at the gym, I feel like I can get into my zone and focus fully, without worrying about what other people are doing. I hope to see progress in 2–4 weeks as I continue training consistently.
This journey isn’t just about golf. It’s about setting a goal, respecting where I’m starting from, and building something sustainable. Stronger body, better swing — and hopefully lower scores.
One workout at a time. 💪
